1. General
The burglar alarm ensures 2 types of protection :
A perimeter protection (bonnet, doors, tailgate)
A volumetric protection of the passenger's compartment
System elements :
Door switches integrated into the locks
Body computer (CPH)
Siren (located in the engine compartment, without isolating key switch)
Volumetric protection ECU

3. Operating principle
3.1. Perimeter protection
The perimeter protection ensures that the alarm operates if there is any change in the position of the doors, boot or bonnet (opening or closing) .
Perimeter detection is performed by switches integral to the locks (doors, tailgate, bonnet) .
The perimeter protection is completely controlled by the body computer .
3.2. Volumetric protection
The volumetric protection detects any intrusion in the passenger compartment using ultrasonic-sound to monitor the displacement or variation in the volume of air .
Composition :
Ultrasonic receiver
Ultrasonic transmitter
Volumetric protection ECU
N.B. : The volumetric protection of the passenger's compartment is operational 45 seconds after having activated the alarm (time required for the air volume inside the vehicle to stabilise) .
The volumetric protection is self-adapting, taking into account variations in the volume of air in the passenger compartment (temperature changes) .
3.3. Alarm triggering conditions
Alarm is immediately triggered in the following cases (alarm activated) :
Opening or closing one or several door(s)
Glass breakage
Attempt to neutralise the alarm
Ignition switched "+" occuring
Putting the wrong key into the ignition
The following actions result from the triggering of the alarm :
Siren operating with a modulated sound (for 30 seconds)
The direction indicators flash , 2 times per second (for 30 seconds) (*)
Dipped beams flashing once per second (for 30 seconds) (*)
Memorisation of alarm triggering
LED flashing rapidly (5 times per second) until ignition is switched on
After triggering, the alarm operates for 30 seconds then shifts to arming mode (reactivation of the detection system after 5 seconds) .
(*) : depending on country .
CAUTION : After the volumetric protection has set the alarm off 3 times (without the perimeter protection detecting any intrusion) the volumetric protection will automatically be deactivated .
3.4. Stopping the alarm
The alarm will stop in the following cases :
Using the high frequency remote control to unlock the vehicle
Putting a key into the ignition (recognition of the transponder code)
4. Driver information
4.1. Direction indicators
The direction indicators indicate changes in the state of the alarm :
Arming the alarm : continuously lit (for 1 second)
De-activating the alarm : LED flashing rapidly (5 times per second) until ignition is switched on
Triggering : warning lamp flashing slowly , at 2 Hz
4.2. Dipped beam
When the alarm is set off, the dipped beams flash (at a frequency of 1 Hz for 30 seconds) .
4.3. Alarm LED
The red alarm led is located on the dashboard .
The LED indicates the state of the alarm :
Arming the alarm : warning lamp flashing slowly , at 1 Hz
De-activating the alarm : the warning lamp goes out
Triggering : rapid flashing , at 5 Hz
Volumetric protection disabled : continuously lit
Siren deactivated
If the volumetric protection is not operational when the system is armed, then the alarm LED will flash for 5 minutes then remain lit .
5. Operating the alarm
5.1. Arming the alarm
CAUTION : Locking a vehicle with a key does not arm the alarm .
Operations to be carried out :
Press the remote control locking/deadlocking button
The direction indicators will light up (for 2 seconds)
Press the remote control locking/deadlocking button
The direction indicators will light up (for 1 second)
The red alarm LED will flash at a frequency of once per second
N.B. : Locking/unlocking and deadlocking commands will not be accepted for 3 seconds after the ignition is switched off .
N.B. : A brief sound will be emitted by the alarm siren if one of the doors, boot or bonnet is open when locking the vehicle (PIOUP function) .
5.2. De-activating the alarm
CAUTION : Opening a vehicle with a key causes the siren to sound .
Press the unlocking button on the remote control :
Doors unlock
The direction indicators will flash quickly (for 2 seconds)
5.3. Siren disarming emergency procedure
When unlocking doors with the key, the alarm siren sounds .
The alarm will stop once the ignition is switched on if the key put into the ignition possesses a transponder code recognised by the body computer .
5.4. Volumetric protection disabled
The volumetric protection may need to be neutralised in the following cases :
Glasses open
Presence of an animal in the vehicle
Neutralisation procedure :
Switch off the ignition
Press the alarm switch for 1 second (the red alarm LED lights up but does not flash)
Get out of the vehicle
Lock the vehicle using the remote control
The direction indicators come on (for 2 seconds)
Press the remote control deadlocking button
The direction indicators come on (for 1 second)
The alarm LED flashes for 5 minutes then remains on
The cancellation of the "alarm arming" is achieved by disarming the alarm or by switching on the alarm when it is stopped .
CAUTION : The perimeter protection is still active .
5.5. Neutralising the siren
It is possible to neutralise the siren from the passenger's compartment, using a specific procedure :
Press the alarm switch and keep it depressed until the red alarm LED starts flashing (LED flashing quickly for 5 seconds then extinguishing)
Release the alarm switch
CAUTION : The siren is no longer neutralised as soon as the vehicle central locking is released (de-activating the alarm) .
6. "PIOUP" function
Vehicle application : depending on country .
The role of the PIOUP function is to warn the driver that one of the doors, boot or bonnet is not closed properly when locking the vehicle, or that the locking command has been refused by the body computer (lock motors protection) .
Response on locking a vehicle with a detected open door, boot or bonnet :
The siren emits a brief sound (PIOUP function)
Arming the alarm , after 45 seconds
The direction indicators come on , after 45 seconds
Response on closing the door, boot or bonnet properly during the 45 seconds after locking the vehicle :
The direction indicators come on , (for 1 second)
Activation of the perimeter protection 45 seconds after closing the door
